Dr. Peter Hanson introduced Suzanne Somers to electro-stimulated facial toning in 1994.  The original technology was with expensive spa machines, and not practical for home use.  Working with one of Apple Computer’s top engineers, he co-developed a home unit, which he sells on HSN with Suzanne.  Thus began the FaceMaster story!

Dr. Peter Hanson has been doing medical acupuncture treatments since 1980, and has had an enormous experience treating facial muscles.  Initially he focused on muscles damaged by nerve conditions, like Bell’s Palsy, or one-sided facial strokes.  However, it soon became clear that these same acupuncture points on the face could also be stimulated at home by patients.  Even if they had no diseases, but simply wanted cosmetic rejuvenation.  In answer to the common question from his office patients, Dr. Hanson started developing a home unit, which became known as the FaceMaster.  He introduced Suzanne Somers to it in 1994, and she has been using this great technology of electro-stimulation ever since.  Working to perfect the home unit, Dr. Hanson and Suzanne teamed up with Rodger Mohme, the lead developement engineer for Apple’s Notebook computer.   Mohme quarterbacked Apple’s flagship product from a 28 pound “lugable” to its modern form.  FaceMaster is the result of Hanson’s medical and acupuncture expertise, and Mohme’s Apple culture of engineering,design, development, and customer service.
