Infertility usually needs full investigations, to rule out obvious impediments.  (Obviously the only time it doesn’t is if the patient gets pregnant while beginning investigations).   Assuming the male has a good count of mobile sperm, and the female has open tubes (at least one), and at least one functioning ovary, the next step in Western medicine is usually drug therapies. Other options include eventual IVF, or in-vitro-fertilization. But one ancient therapy is now surging back onto the menu; Acupuncture can be a huge help in getting couples pregnant.
Dr. Peter G. Hanson, a Denver acupuncturist, is an MD who has delivered over a thousand babies, and has done a lot of work with couples who had trouble getting pregnant. His book “The Joy of Stress” is an international bestseller in over twenty languages, most recently translated into Chinese and Arabic this year. He notes that during times of stress, the body is programmed to DECREASE fertility. This comes from an age when fertility could destroy a population of animals during stress, such as a famine or drought. Thus, the animal kingdom is wired to interpret stress as a trigger that shuts down fertility, thinking this is a help. In the modern setting for humans, the stress may even be that of trying to get pregnant, yet the body still responds by shutting down; Acupuncture can reverse this imbalance, without any drugs, and without any risks to mother or child.  To learn more about this, contact Dr. Hanson at www.peterhansonmd.com.
